Zoe on groundThis is our first post and we were wondering where we should start from. Zoe was pulled out of the water in December, and we are actively working to set it up for the big trip.

The highlight of this period though is a decision we have debated at length. We joined the Cornell Atlantic Odyssey – an annual transatlantic rally for cruising yachts which sail from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean.

In theAO logo debate, Sergio initially refused the idea of joining a rally as it seemed to be taking away some of the sense of adventure in what we are about to do. As we read more about  the rally and spoke with friends, we felt the pros (e.g., the added security, the social aspect) were overcoming by a great deal the cons , so here we are… 10th in an entry list that should count a maximum of 60 boats when complete.

AO entry list

The next few months will be completely devoted to prepare the boat. We will take down the mast for a full check-up, plan new sails, install a new shaft seal, etc etc. More to come…

    Sito trovato.
    Buon vento amici miei.
    Buon vento !
    Fabrizio
