On September 7th we left the windy anchorage of Nabukeru to reach Nawi Marina, where within a few days we would meet up with our friend Demetrio, arriving from Auckland, New Zealand, where he had temporarily relocated for work.
We decided to make a couple of stops, the first of which was Yadua Island, about fifty miles from our starting point. This island had been recommended to us by friends who had raved about the beauty of its seabed; unfortunately, because of the persistent wind and waves, we chose not to dive into its waters.

We stayed just one day before setting off again for the next stop, the small bay of Nabouwalu, near the ferry dock. The following morning we raised sail for Savusavu, arriving in the late afternoon and mooring at Nawi Marina.

The next day we went into town to restock supplies, since our stores had been practically emptied during our time in the Yasawas. On the afternoon of the 13th we went to Savusavu’s tiny airport to welcome Demetrio.
